ou will be required to write a two-minute radio newscast, complete with introduction, closing, four news stories, and a weather forecast.

This will show how well you can write short and to the point, but also include pertinent information.

For this assignment, you are a radio news anchor for Troy University Radio. Write this as one long script, but with lines separating each story. The lead sentences for your four news stories must be written in present, present-perfect, or future tense. In addition, your stories must include the 5 W’s.

You must re-write your news and sports stories from factual newspaper or Internet copy. You may not make up your stories. The stories must be re-written from stories that have occurred between Monday, September 23, 2019 and Sunday, September 29, 2019. Your stories do not necessarily have to be Troy University related.

The stories can all be readers. You do not have to have an actuality.

The introduction of your newscast MUSTbe the following:

GOOD MORNING. I’M (YOUR NAME.) IT’S 10 O’CLOCK ON (DATE). HERE’S YOUR LATEST RADIO UPDATE FROM TROY UNIVERSITY RADIO NEWS.

The closing of your newscast MUST be the following:

AND THAT’S YOUR LATEST HEADLINES FOR (DATE). IN TROY, I’M (YOUR NAME), TROY UNIVERSITY RADIO.

Here is the format you MUST follow for this assignment:

Introduction

News Story #1 (most important, lead story)

News Story #2

News Story #3

News Story #4 (lighter story)

AND NOW FOR A LOOK AT TROY’S WEATHER(you must say it this way and then write a short weather forecast).

Closing

Points will be counted against you for not following instructions; for not writing in broadcast news style as we have discussed this semester; and, for incorrect spelling and grammar.
