  • Does the source display wisdom and knowledge about the subject in either the past or present? How so?

Context:

  • What is the event/place/context where the debate/statement takes place?
  • Does the context affect the credibility of either party?
    • Did they have to write this article on the smoking ban?
    • Did they make this movie about the negative side of SeaWorld for profit?
    • Is it appropriate to talk about the size of one’s genitals during a Presidential debate?
  • Does the source display virtue and good moral character?
    • Do they associate themselves with things that are virtuous (courage, fairness, temperance, kindness, patience)?
    • Do they use “tempered praise”?
    • Do they use personal experience to demonstrate good (or bad) moral character?
    • Are they sincere in their delivery?
  • Do they develop a positive rapport between the speaker and the audience?
  • Do they demonstrate dynamic delivery?
